Job Purpose:

To oversee and manage the Safety Management System (SMS), ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and promoting a culture of safety within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Safety Management System (SMS):

    • Develop, implement, and maintain the organization's SMS.
    • Ensure the SMS complies with regulatory requirements (e.g., ICAO, EASA, FAA, DGCA).
    • Conduct regular reviews and updates of the SMS to ensure its effectiveness and relevance.

  2. Safety Policies and Procedures:

    • Develop and maintain safety policies, procedures, and guidelines.
    • Ensure that safety procedures are integrated into all aspects of maintenance operations.

  3. Risk Management:

    • Identify potential safety hazards and conduct risk assessments.
    • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and safety measures.
    • Monitor the effectiveness of risk mitigation measures and make adjustments as necessary.

  4. Safety Audits and Inspections:

    • Plan and conduct regular safety audits and inspections of maintenance activities and facilities.
    • Identify non-compliance and safety hazards, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.

  5. Incident and Accident Investigation:

    • Lead investigations into safety incidents and accidents.
    • Determine root causes and develop corrective and preventive actions.
    • Ensure timely reporting of incidents to regulatory authorities as required.

  6. Safety Training and Awareness:

    • Develop and deliver safety training programs for all staff.
    • Promote a safety culture within the organization through awareness programs and initiatives.
    • Ensure that all personnel are aware of their safety responsibilities and the importance of adhering to safety protocols.

  7. Safety Communication:

    • Facilitate communication and reporting of safety issues within the organization.
    • Act as a point of contact for safety-related matters and coordinate with regulatory authorities.
    • Provide regular safety reports to senior management.

  8. Safety Performance Monitoring:

    • Monitor and analyze safety performance data and trends.
    • Develop and track safety performance indicators.
    • Provide recommendations for safety improvements based on performance analysis.

  9. Emergency Response Planning:

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Safety Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in aircraft maintenance, safety management, or a related area.
  • In-depth knowledge of aviation safety regulations and standards (e.g., ICAO, EASA, FAA, DGCA).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead and manage safety programs and initiatives.
  • Certification in safety management or a related field (e.g., Certified Safety Professional, IOSH, NEBOSH) is preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • Office and field environment, with regular visits to maintenance facilities.
  • May require travel to various locations for safety audits, inspections, and training.
