Chap.4 : Safety Policy

  Objective of Chap.4 Safety Policy of SMSM is to describe the organization’s intentions, management principles and commitment to improving safety.
 safety policy is a short description similar to a mission statement.
           How the organisation will develop and implement an integrated, comprehensive SMS for its entire organization and will incorporate a procedure to identify and maintain compliance with current safety-related legal, regulatory, and statutory requirements.
         Top management of  organisation will define the organization’s safety policy and   convey its expectations, objectives, commitments, and accountability to its employees.

  1. Safety policy should be appropriate to the size and complexity of the organization.
  2. Safety policy states the organization’s intentions, management principles and commitment to continuous improvement in safety.
  3.  is approved and signed by the AE
  4.  is promoted by the AE and all other managers
  5. is reviewed periodically.
  6.  Personnel at all levels are involved in the establishment and maintenance of the sms.
  7. The safety policy is communicated to all employees with the intent that they are made aware of their individual safety obligations.
 

Safety Policy should:
  1. reflect organizational commitment regarding safety,including the promotion of a positive safety culture;
  2.  include a clear statement about the provision of the necessary resources for implementation of the safety policy;
  3. include safety reporting procedures;
  4. clearly indicate which types of behaviours are unacceptable related to the service  provider’s aviation activities and include circumstances under which disciplinary action     would not apply;
  5. be signed by the AE.
  6. be communicated, with visible endorsement, throughout organisation
  7. be periodically reviewed to ensure it remains relevant and appropriate to the service   provider.

                    safety policy statement shall include commitment to:
  1. achieve the highest safety standards;
  2. comply with all applicable regulatory requirements;
  3. comply with international standards;
  4. adopt proven best practices appropriate to the activity;
  5. provide all the necessary resources;
  6. ensure safety is a primary responsibility of all managers;
  7. ensure that the safety policy is understood, implemented and maintained at all l
